Stepan Company Establishes North American Energy Program

Stepan Company is committed to the development of sustainable products and business practices. We see this as a central part of our vision to provide innovative chemical solutions for a cleaner, healthier, more energy efficient world. Last year, Stepan launched the North American Energy Program and North American Energy & Sustainability Council to further our commitment to renewable energy and emissions reduction.

The North American Energy & Sustainability Council is focused on reducing emissions at our U.S. locations through energy projects and forecasting improvements to meet our sustainability goals.

Since its inception, the North American Energy & Sustainability Council has:

• Developed an energy dashboard to standardize energy usage metrics across the sites.
• Conducted energy assessments to develop a long-term reduction strategy at three sites and developed energy efficiency standards for new site installations.
• Embedded sustainability into the capital planning process and process engineering design to ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into our process design.
• Implemented a best practices education program for manufacturing personnel.
